Frequently Asked Questions
Got a question? We’ve answered the most common ones below. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, just get in touch.
How do I book a lesson?
You can book directly through our website using the online booking form on the Book a Lesson page. Just choose an available slot, fill in your details, and you’re all set. You’ll receive a confirmation email straight away.
How much do lessons cost?
Standard lessons are from £35 per hour with a 2 hour booking, or from £40 per hour with a 1 hour booking. We also offer block booking packages if you’d like to save money by paying for multiple lessons in advance, and intensive courses for those who want to pass quickly. Full details are on our Lessons & Pricing page.
Do I need a provisional licence before I can start?
Yes – you must have a valid provisional driving licence before your first lesson. You can apply for one online via the DVLA website. It’s straightforward and usually takes around a week to arrive.
What areas do you cover?
We cover Rotherham Town Centre, Clifton, Broom, Moorgate, Eastwood, Masbrough, Ferham, Canklow, Herringthorpe, Kimberworth, Kimberworth Park, Greasbrough, Dalton, Thrybergh, Ravenfield, Whiston, Brinsworth, Catcliffe, Treeton, Wickersley, Bramley, Thurcroft, Aston, Thorpe Hesley, Scholes, Rawmarsh, Parkgate, Kilnhurst, Wath-upon-Dearne, Swinton, Maltby, Dinnington and surrounding areas.
If you’re unsure whether we cover your area, just get in touch and we’ll let you know.
Can I choose which instructor I have?
When you book online, we assign you to the most suitable available instructor. If you have a preference or a specific requirement – for example, if you’d prefer a male or female instructor – please let us know when you get in touch and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
What's the difference between a block booking and a standard lesson?
Standard lessons are booked and paid for one at a time. Block bookings let you pay for multiple lessons upfront, usually at a slightly reduced rate, and they help you maintain consistent progress by securing your lesson slots in advance.
What is an intensive course?
An intensive or ‘crash’ course is a condensed programme where you take several hours of tuition over a short period – usually a week or two – to get test-ready quickly. It’s ideal if you need your licence fast or prefer to learn in a concentrated burst rather than weekly lessons.
How many lessons will I need?
This varies from person to person. The national average is around 45 hours of professional tuition, but some learners need fewer and some need more. Your instructor will give you an honest assessment of your progress and how ready you are for your test.
What car will I be learning in?
All lessons take place in a modern, dual-controlled vehicle. The dual controls mean your instructor can take over the brakes if needed, so you can learn in a safe and controlled environment.
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson. Cancellations made with less notice may be subject to a cancellation fee. Please contact us as soon as possible if your plans change.
Do you help with theory test preparation?
While we primarily focus on practical driving tuition, our instructors are happy to offer advice and guidance on theory test preparation during your lessons. There are also excellent free resources available online including the official DVSA theory test app.
